Session Tips and Info
Best Session Times-To get the most out of your session I like to scheduled session times 2 hours after sunrise and 2 hours before sunset this tends to bring out the most amazing color. Overcast days do really well to and you can photograph for hours in the natural light.
Other Times are possible as well if in a well shaded area!
What to Wear- Solid Colors do work best and usually Blue, Orange and Green's do very well. But any color you are comfortable with is great, but try to stay clear of loud, bright or lots of patterns they tend to take to much attention away from the subject. Coordinate with your family as best you can but not everyone should wear the exact same thing, coordinating a color or two will do fine. Just lay it out and see what it looks like together.
Uncomfortable body- Ok so we all have a part of us we just dont love and the key here is to not draw attention to that area. If you uncomfortable with you mid section dont wear a belt that would draw attention to that area. If you uncomfortable with your arms covering them up can be enlightening, you dont have to cover the whole arm just make sure your sleeve is not to short to add more attention to this area.
Retouch Photos- I do inspect every photo individually and retouch them as needed. I will remove scratches, blemish, smooth out the face and so forth and I also adjust any color make corrections if needed and so forth. I do not extremely change the photo they are a difference between enhancing a photo and changing the complete outcome of it. I have seen photo's so many times that dont look anything like a photograph or the person that was suppose to be in it due to the amount of photoshoping that was done..
Children and babies- Well we all know that they dont always do what we want them to and sometimes it can be challenging, but that's what makes the session FUN! Usually if it is a family session I want to get the family done first and the little ones due to there attention span can be very short and it is hard for a little one to sit still. If your child wants a break we will let them have one. Just a child or children running around playing can make amazing photos. After all they are children and they just need to play sometimes.
Weddings- These sessions are amazing and I usually like to take as many photos before the actual wedding as possible. So we are not in a rush to get the reception or after party. We get the bride with her wedding party and family and the groom then after the ceremony is a great time to get some intimate moments with bride and groom. Weddings usually take 3-5 hours to photograph and I leave you with TONS of photos usually around 150+.
Location- Picking a location is sometimes a challenging decision, it is best to decide what you want your photographs to show. Are you wanting a fun session or a more formal session? Also distance can play a big role in your location if you have young children you may not want to travel more than 20 min to get to the location of choice, a more local place is usually the best with little ones.
Accessories- They are wonderful bring what you want a childs favorite toy a favorite baby chair, Hats and more. This can make your session more personal and bring out more personality in your photos. If you not sure if it will work bring it anyway you will be surprised what looks great in a photograph and after all if it dont well all we got to do is set it aside and shoot on. Footballs are great too anything your family likes to do bring it we will take a couple of personal shoots and then go on to a regular session. A simple photo of Dad and Son passing a ball makes an amazing shoot. Mom Knitting a sweeter and daughter looking down watching are great portraits some of the simplest moments in life will last a life time and your everyday moments can be recorded memory. This is what is great about Accessorizing your photos
To sum things up you can make a Amazing Photos out of just about anything. The key is to have fun and make memories that last a lifetime. Personal touches are great and your ideas are important to your session as well.
